About the event
Taconic Music and the Manchester Community Library present their third International Voices event, featuring music and poetry from around the world, on Sunday, October 13 at 2pm at the Library (138 Cemetery Ave., Manchester Center, VT). Members of Southern Vermont’s international community will speak briefly about their personal journeys to the United States. Carol Berry (Switzerland), Carolina Ellenbogen (Venezuela), and Christina Yuengling (Sweden) will each read a poem in their native tongue, along with a translation in English. Special music from each country—arrangements of traditional melodies or pieces by classical composers—will be paired with each poem and performed by Taconic Chamber Players (violinists Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violists Ariel Rudiakov and Rosemary Nelis, and cellist Nathaniel Parke).
The concert will feature two special guests: the Scandinavian-American chorus Nordic Harmoni, based in Southern Vermont, and the young composer Kian Ravaei, who is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at the Juilliard…
