“Dear Everyone,
On Friday the owls went to the Manchester Post Office. Abby’s grandmother, Margot, toured us around. We got to see how the mail is sorted and explore the mail truck. We learned how hard the postal workers work. Thank you Margot for touring us around! The owls are building owl town! Owl town is the owls town that they are building at school out of cardboard boxes. Each person has a job to do in the town. The owls are working on using their community study to inform how the town will look. The eagles are stewarding the trout and working on their civil war projects.
“Last week my Grand Pop came to school to cast. Casting is a type of way to make things out of metal. We used a mold. The mold was of Robert E.Lee, Ulysses S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln. When they’re done we file them. When they’re done we got to bring them home. It was very fun making them!”-Cian
“The owls built owl town. The town is a place where all the owls have jobs.”-Hazel
“We are building owl town. All the kids in the owls class have jobs. For example, Hazel and I are working in a restaurant. We are using cardboard, tape, blocks and books. We are learning about towns and communities. In conclusion I’m happy to build.”-Rebecca
“The owls had a contest at school yesterday for the King of ing. We cut out the kings and wrote ing words on it. Whoever has the most ing words wins. It’s gonna be Rebecca because she has the most words.”-Emma
“On Monday we played a game called Steal The Bacon. I don’t know why it’s called that, because it has absolutely nothing to do with bacon. Anyway, here’s how you play: You need a large space with 2 lines marked opposite each other on the floor. Then exactly half of the people line up next to each other behind one of the lines, and the other half does the same. Then, an object is put at equal distance between the lines, and everyone is given a number that nobody else on their team has but one person on the other team does have, between one and the number of people on each team. Then somebody calls a number and the people with that number go up and try to get the object, if you get the object back across the line, you score a point for your team. (Note: multiple numbers can be called).”-Addis
“This week me and Kelley made this fun game. We call it Uber. We take a sled and I pull Kelley in the sled. When it started I pulled Kelley on the ice. Then we went in the woods. The the ice broke so we went in the water. It is fun to do.”-Colby
“This week we made up this fun game called Ice Drifting. How it works is either Colby or Eden pulls us around on Elliott’s sled over a patch of ice, we try and drift in circles. If you fall of you lose, there are two different types of firsts. The Cole drift, which is where you sit down with your legs out. My drift is where you go down on both knees and hold on to the handles. It’s so much fun and I’m so glad that we made that game up.”-Kelley
“The whole school learned a new song called the fox went out on a chilly night on Monday to learn a new song. Alley sang and we copied her.”-Abby
“Charlie was not here on Wednesday. She stayed at home because her sisters had the flu.”-JJ
“Charlie made a structure yesterday out of blocks for fun. It’s really high. I put one on at a time. It might fall.”-Charlie (It did fall but she re-built it!)
“I did my 100 day projects yesterday at school for the 100th day. I draw animals.”-Gabriel
“This week we did 100 day projects. We have to make 100 of something like 100 Red Fox magnets. It’s due by the 14th of February 2019. Me and Zooey are doing 100 red fox magnets. Kelley’s 100 day project is a country with 100 made up states. Eden is 100 face. Colby and Noah is 100 rubber bands on a water melon. Cian is doing a burger with 100 ingredients and Addis si doing a robot with 100 functions.”-Cole
“This week at P.E we played a game called Smi-ubif. Sami was leading P.E because Sarah and Alley weren’t feeling good. Smi-ubif stands for Sami made it up but it’s fun. The rules are simple: each team gets a cookie (frisbee) and they try to get it into a hula hoop. The teams place people in strategic locations across the field, but they can’t move their feet. The person who has the cookie is the only person who can move, and if their throw is off, they have to get it. The point is to get the cookie into the hoop as fast as you can. It’s almost like musical chairs, in that there is one cookie short of the amount of teams, so one team is always kicked out. The game is really fun, and it’s going to be fun to play it again.”-Eden
“Matilda is sick. She is going to get better tomorrow.”-Mischa
“Hello! You know that sickness going around?…You do? Good! Because I’m going to tell you how it affected the Eagles of Red Fox Community School. First (of course) it was going around the whole school. Second, here are the people that aren’t sick…Colby and Cole. Third, we didn’t go to the library because everyone didn’t feel good. Yup it hit us hard. It hope it doesn’t come my way (worse than it already has). Toodles!”-Zooey
